The SCN Training Program is supported by the Training and Education Committee and the Trainee Communications Committee, working in conjunction with the SCN Research Management Committee.

The Training and Education Committee

The Training and Education Committee (TEC) consists of a minimum of four SCN Principal Investigators and three SCN trainees, and the Chair of the Network’s Trainee Communications Committee.

The mandate of the TEC is to develop and implement a training strategy and program that will:

  • Recruit and train highly qualified personnel (HQP) in stem cell research
  • Promote the multidisciplinary training of HQP, including a grounding in the ethical, legal and economic implications of stem cell research
  • Retain HQP within Canada’s stem cell research community
  • Provide an enriched training environment to help trainees increase their value to prospective employers and their profile for funding agencies
  • Help trainees become active in the Network
  • Identify, review and monitor the training activities of the Training Communication Committee, Awards Committee, Internship Program and Ad Hoc working groups
  • Develop and implement a strategy to evaluate the SCN Training Program.

The Trainee Communications Committee (TCC)

The Trainee Communications Committee (TCC) comprises SCN trainees, the Chair from the Training and Education Committee, the SCN Director of Research and Training Programs, and the SCN Director of Communications.

The mandate of the TCC is to develop and implement a communications strategy that informs trainees about Network activities and that solicits input from trainees to guide new initiatives.
